Having done some research, we estimate that there are more than 5000 quilters in South Africa that we know of and only +- 2000 quilters belonging to guilds. To promote quilting in our beautiful country we need to grow our love for quilting and in particular, grow the fold of quilters. We would also like to see what fellow quilters are busy with!
We need to use the benefits of Social media as one of the vehicles to reach as many quilt lovers as we can to motivate, inspire, encourage, teach and learn – essentially promoting quilting.
I would like to encourage you to use INSTAGRAM and FACEBOOK
(ask anyone who knows how to create an account for you) THEN…..
- Post the work you are busy with (it doesn’t need to be complete).
- Post a class that you attend (with permission of the teacher)
- Post an inspirational quote to encourage quilters
- Post a video of you embroidering or sewing your quilt
- Post a colourful flower or even a pattern that would inspire
- POST ANYTHING QUILTY
Each time you post type the symbol: “#’ then type the accounts as listed above (all one word).
Then share on Facebook and don’t forget to click on the hashtags to follow so that you see when others do the same!
Below is an example of a post that has been linked:
I encourage you to forward this mail to friends.
